CARE T is a non-profit charitable social organization founded on a unique date of 22.2.2002. It was registered under the Indian Trust Act 1882 at Coimbatore.

Journey of CARE T

Towards the destination of the ‘social, economic and environmental well-being of people and the planet,’ the journey of CARE T has commenced with identifying the beneficiaries in accordance with the locally adoptable global standards.

Since its initiation, CARE T has been on the go to attain Quality Education, Reduced Inequalities and Gender Equality that are related to social welfare.

Since 2015, CARE T has set locally adoptable, relevant United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to bring about a constructive transformation in the economic benefits of marginalized communities. No Poverty, Zero Hunger, and Decent Work and Economic Growth are the SDGs on which CARE T has been working on successfully.

As far as environmental well-being of the planet is concerned, CARE T has been thriving in the realisation of SDGs that aim at Clean Water and Sanitation, Climate Action, Life below Water and Life on Land.

CARE T strives for the welfare of children, youth, women, fishers, farmers and workers of unorganized sectors in terms of their social and economic status. Approach of CARE T is to apply relevant and viable activities in order to bring about the expected outcomes.

For instance, Psychosocial Care, Counselling, Life Skill Education and Career Guidance are implemented as per the pressing needs of the target beneficiaries. Unique and innovative programmes namely Human Resource Development Education that foster employability skills, Labour Education to create awareness on labour standards, and Gender Education to promote zero tolerance against gender-based violence and inequality at workplace have become flagships of CARE T.

Besides, CARE T has been training young women in equipping themselves in professional skills of industrial tailoring, embroidery and aari work for fashionable clothing, computer applications, designing and data entry. Nursing and medical technician courses, and certificate programmes in beautician and stylist are provided for the identified aspirants. With the purpose of breaking the gender stereotype in occupation, mobile phone servicing and driving courses for women has been initiated. These programmes have been planned in accordance with their needs and interests as well as local feasibility for immediate employment opportunities that pave way for their empowerment.

Current focus of CARE T’s activities has been on the holistic Decent Work of the families, working communities and the marginalized people. It has been actively involved in initiating Climate Resilient Agriculture, Climate Crisis Education and Climate Change Mitigation Efforts, and Disaster Management. 

CARE T has been mobilizing the stakeholders at all levels of textile, yarn and garment industry towards ‘Best Textile Model’ in an effort to create a win-win situation in global textile supply chain in relevant regions of Tamil Nadu in India.

With the history of working dynamically by applying distinctive modes of operations time after time, CARE T has been progressing in its endeavours to strike more positive impact on the social, economic and environmental well-being of people and the planet in the local context.
